Sponsored Guest Lectures

The VBCF EM Facility at the Vienna Biocenter, where the event will be held, is one of the leading electron microscopy facilities in life sciences in Austria and perfectly equipped to hosting an advanced cryo-electron tomography workshop.

Dedicated cryo-instrumentation on site includes a ThermoFisher Scientific Glacios electron microscope, Leica EM GP immersion freezer and high pressure freezers, as well as appropriate image processing capacities. Installation of a ThermoFisher Scientific Titan Krios G4 with Selectris energy filter and Falcon4 direct electron detector is scheduled to be completed in January 2022.

The “Advanced Workshop on Cryo-Electron Tomography” is an event officially supported by the European Microscopy Society (EMS).

European Microscopy Society

The workshop is generously sponsored by AMETEK/Gatan, Diatome, JEOL Germany, ThermoFisher Scientific, TVIPS, Alveole, Science Services, Quantifoil and Amsterdam Scientific Instruments.

Participants and Registration

A minimum number of 12 up to a maximum of 18 participants will be allowed to the workshop, with registrations being considered depending on relevance, access to infrastructure, and the order of submission. Students and members of the European Microscopy Society (EMS) are eligible for a reduced registration fee:

  • Academia registration fee: 1400 Euro excl. VAT
  • Industry registration fee: 2050 Euro excl. VAT
  • Reduced registration fee: 1200 Euro excl. VAT

The registration fee covers the workshop fee, workshop materials, catering during the day including lunch, and two evening events (city tour and workshop dinner).

Please submit your application until January 31, 2022 via the application form.

In order to make the workshop as relaxed and and worry-free as possible and to minimise potential legal limitations, we have decided that a valid vaccination against COVID-19 (with a vaccine approved by the EMA) or a proof of recent recovery from the disease is required for everyone participating (i.e., instructors, participants, company staff, and other staff).
