The Electron Microscopy Facility of the Vienna Biocenter Core Facilities (VBCF, Vienna, Austria) and Nexperion – Solutions for Electron Microscopy (Vienna, Austria) are jointly organising an international

Advanced Workshop on Cryo-Electron Tomography

Vienna, Austria, Europe

May 1112, 2019: Optional Pre-Course
May 1317, 2019: Workshop

for students, postdoctoral staff, scientists, and group leaders from academia and industry.

While the workshop is targeting an advanced audience (pre-existing knowledge in electron tomography, data processing, and/or cryo-TEM), a weekend pre-course will be offered for less experienced participants to catch-up.

Sponsored Guest Lectures

The VBCF EM Facility at the Vienna Biocenter, where the event will be held, is one of the leading electron microscopy facilities in life sciences in Austria and perfectly equipped to hosting an advanced cryo-electron tomography workshop.

Dedicated cryo-instrumentation including an ThermoFisher Scientific Glacios electron microscope with a Falcon 3EC Direct Electron detector, a Leica EM GP immersion freezer, a Leica EM Cryo-CLEM system, as well as appropriate image processing capacities are available on site.

Participants and Registration

A minimum number of 12 up to a maximum of 18 participants will be allowed to the workshop, with registrations being considered depending on qualification and the order of submission. Students and members of the European Microscopy Society (EMS) are eligible for a reduced registration fee:

  • Academia registration fee: 1000 Euro excl. VAT (1350 Euro excl. VAT with pre-course)
  • Industry registration fee: 1500 Euro excl. VAT (1950 Euro excl. VAT with pre-course)
  • Reduced registration fee: 850 Euro excl. VAT (1150 Euro excl. VAT with pre-course)

The registration fee covers the workshop fee, workshop materials, catering during the day including lunch, and two evening events (city tour and workshop dinner).

The registration for the workshop is closed, thank you for your applications.
